On 5 August 1948, Horace K. Jackson, the Most Worshipful Grand Master of Masons for the state of Texas, granted a dispensation to form a new Lodge in San Antonio, TX., which was to be known as Lonnie Irvin Daylight Lodge, the 1,309th Masonic Lodge in Texas. He issued special deputation to Right Worshipful M.A. Childers, Past Grand Master to act as his representative in setting this Lodge to work on 1 September 1948.
On 8 December 1948, Hugh M. Craig, the Most Worshipful Grand Master of Masons for the state of Texas issued special deputation to Right Worshipful Maxie L. Brooks, Sr., the District Deputy Grand Master for the 39th Masonic District, to act as his representative in Constituting Lonnie Irvin Daylight Lodge No. 1309, in San Antonio, TX. As a result, the Lodge was Constituted on 10 December 1948. The original installed officers were Otto F Dietert as Worshipful Master, Pat M. Armstrong as Senior Warden and Cecil A. Lipscomb, Sr. as Junior Warden.
At that time our Lodge was located at 212 City Street in San Antonio.
At the end of our first working year, we had a total membership of 77 Brothers. We initiated 24 Entered Apprentices, passed 14 Fellowcrafts, and raised 13 Master Masons.
